Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is on the verge of becoming “the national governing party forever.”
This he says, is due to the commitment of what he calls the party’s mother regions, being the Ashanti and Eastern, interspersed with the support and commitment being show by the Western region.
He believes the support from the Western region, coupled with what they already have in the Ahanti and Eastern Regions, are enough to make the NPP rule the country in perpetuity.
According to him, he has spent most of his time touring the length and breath of the region since his nomination as running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, adding that what he has observed is enough to make him have that belief.
Speaking at the launch of the party’s Manifesto at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi Sunday, August 18, 2024, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, indicated that, the support he has received from the chiefs and people of the region has been overwhelming.
“Since my nomination as the Vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, I’ve spent a considerable time in the Western region. I believe apart from our mother regions –Ashanti and Eastern, the region that is akin to making the NPP the national governing party forever, is the Western region,” he stated.
“I’ve been through Amenfi, Wassa, Dixcove, I’ve been to Dwira, I’ve gone to Nzema, I’ve gone to Ahanta, I’ve been to Essikado, meeting chiefs in all these communities and I’ve been overwhelmed by the love and warmth of the people in this region,” he stated.
The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and former Energy Minister praised leadership of the party in the region for the marvelous work they have done to consolidate the gains of the party there.
