A Kia truck loaded with rubber on December 27 crashed into three shops at Nkroful Junction, opposite Allied Filling Station in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region, leaving one person dead and others injured.
The truck, which was travelling from Agona Nkwanta on the Kansaworado Highway towards the direction of Accra, reportedly lost control after another Kia Truck ahead of it suddenly veered into its lane at Nkroful.
In an attempt to avoid a collision, the rubber truck struck the vehicle, veered off the road and rammed into the shops.

Two people were trapped in one of the affected structures.
One was confirmed dead at the scene, while the other sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Assemblyman for the area, Abraham Yalley, indicates the surviving victim has been rushed to the Fijai Hospital
“I received a call of the incident and quickly rushed here. We have rushed one person to the Fijai Hospital whilst the other is dead. She was in the shop preparing her porridge when the vehicle ran into her. She is an SHS 1 student at Adiembra SHS. She has been working for someone who prepares porridge to have some finances to support her education. That’s where she was working when the incident happened,” he told Connect FM.
The police have since conveyed the body to the mortuary, while investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
