The Central Regional Director of Education Dr. Julitte Dufie Otami, has emphasized that there will be a zero tolerance for sexual misconduct and behaviors that compromise student safety and dignity.

Dr. Otami noted that the education service prioritizes learner protection and maintains the integrity of the teaching profession.

“Teachers and school leaders, I urge you to adopt positive discipline strategies that correct without breaking spirits, teaching accountability without fear. Let’s train our students with firmness, fairness, and consistency.

Equally pressing is teacher indiscipline. As educators and role models, cases of absenteeism, lateness, neglect of duty, and inappropriate relationships with students, including sexual harassment, are deeply concerning and completely unacceptable.” She said.

She pointed out that, “there is zero tolerance for sexual misconduct and any behavior that compromises the safety and dignity of our students. The Ghana Education Service is committed to protecting our learners and upholding the integrity of the teaching profession.”

Speaking at the commissioning of a modern ICT laboratory at Enyan Miam Community Senior High School in Ajumako Enyan Esiam District on July 24, Dr. Otami assured that the Ghana Education Service will thoroughly investigate misconduct allegations and apply appropriate sanctions.

“All allegations of misconduct will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate sanctions will follow. Let us remember that with every student we teach, we shape a life, and with every misstep, we risk distorting a future.” She added.

Dr. Dufie Otami called on the governing board, parents, traditional leaders, and the entire community to be vigilant partners in safeguarding the investment – both the equipment and, more importantly, the young minds that will utilize the ICT laboratory.

“This commissioning marks not just the start of digital access, but a renewed commitment to professional ethics, discipline, and accountability. I urge everyone gathered here, particularly the community, to be vigilant in safeguarding this investment.” She mentioned.

The Headmaster of Enyan Miam Community Senior High School, Ebenezer Kojo Otoo, expressed appreciation to the ministries of Education and Communication, with support from the World Bank, reiterating that the computer laboratory will enhance academic performance and create opportunities for research, entrepreneurship, and community development.
