Over 1,000 Ghanaians in Qatar are facing the consequences of the attack on a US military base in the country.

That’s according to a Ghanaian resident in a place called Argentina Neighbourhood in Qatar, Stephen Owura.

Speaking on Ghana Tonight with Alfred Ocansey on June 23, Owura said, “I can boldly confirm that it’s true. Practically, we are all indoors. We’ve been asked to stay indoors. No one should go out until further notice. So, we’ve been indoors from the time we saw the missiles going out till now.

“I saw the missiles flying in the skies. I think it was 10 of it, but fortunately, the US Army base here, were able to get the information. So, they actually revenged before it got to the US Army base here in Qatar,” he added.
Owura asked their families back home to pray for them.

“It has been very sad for us because we, as immigrants, we are just praying that things actually go on well here because we’ve left our families behind, and if you are here and your family watches this kind of things, they will actually be sad and be praying for us.

“So, I think you people out there should pray for the Ghanaians out here because it is not all that easy, but we are just hoping that things will get better because looking at the number of missiles here and per information gathered, I think Iran has said that they will surely retaliate because they are not yet done. So, we are just hoping that whatever they are saying, they will actually put a stop to it. Otherwise, we will actually be in trouble here,” he complained.

He indicated that they are yet to hear from officials at the Ghana Mission in Qatar.

“We’ve not yet heard anything from the Ghana embassy or ambassador here. We’ve not yet heard anything from them, but we’re just hoping that at least we could hear anything from them that is tomorrow morning,” he said.
Owura noted that their only fear now is repatriation.
“The only measures that we are asking or pleading from the government is that they should actually be of aid to the Ghanaians here because it has not been easy. It has not been easy looking at this kind of things. We all came here for something, to get something and bring it back home. But if this kind of thing actually happens, then it means we are actually in trouble.

“And maybe in the next few days or the next few months, we don’t know what will actually happen. We may be asked to come back to our country. That is our mother country.

“So, we are just hoping that things will get better here. They will actually settle and solve all issues. And we are also pleading to them that they should help us out here in case of, because if you have been asked to stay indoors, you can’t go out to buy anything because all stores, all malls here will be closed till further notice,” Owura bemoaned.

He therefore called on officials of the Ghana Mission to bring them food.
“So, at least if they can help us, they can come to our aid with any food items or anything else,” he pleaded.
