Magnus Naabe Rex Danquah, a senior citizen, has bemoaned how Ghanaian politicians, particularly the Danquah Busia Dombo tradition whose forebears overthrew Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, have prioritised state capture instead of development.
The Mfantsipim ‘Old Boy’ says when he juxtaposes recent developments with the ‘Kwabotwe‘ philosophy of ‘Dwen Hwɛ Kan‘, which is the heritage of the founding fathers of the nation, he cannot fathom why thievery has become the order of the day.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Rics Consult, he has been questioning where Ghana went wrong with its nation building efforts looking at the “state captures, selling public properties to people in government and their cronies… factories, lands, vehicles, and even the simple ‘AIR’ to not only suffocate the people to death literally… the obscene looting of every resource, particularly and including over printing of money by the BoG and cook books to change the narratives.”
In a circular he shared Monday morning, June 24, 2024, he also questioned the essence of the white man’s education to the Ghanaian if what it bequeaths the nation is a leadership that prioritises stealing state resources than developing the state.

TRUTH BE TOLD, I never sincerely and really appreciate the subject of HISTORY during my days at Mfantsipim (1967-1974) as a student – an arts O & A Level person, than now, when I go back to the overthrow of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah by an army influenced greatly by the fathers and forebears of current NPP… to their second coming during our 2nd Republic under Prof. K. A. Busia as Prime Minister and Edward Akufo-Addo as Ceremonial President… and the administration of Presidents Kuffour and NADAA….. it’s this subject that provides everybody, particularly every Ghanaian, to appreciate what state captures, selling public properties to people in government and their cronies… factories, lands, vehicles, and even the simple ‘AIR’ to not only suffocate the people to death literally… the obscene looting of every resource, particularly and including over printing of money by the BOG and cook books to change the narratives…. sometimes, I wonder the full essence of white man’s education if it ends up in making some of our leaders and their steal from the State with careless abundance…. I go back to the FOUNDERS of our great heritage: MFANTSIPIM and its ‘DWEN HWE KAN’ philosophy of life and living…. to ask: WHERE DID WE GO SO WRONG WITH OUR NATION-BULDING efforts…?
Is this the FUTURE we wish to leave for our children, their children, and grandchildren, and our descendants…?
Let’s not see now for some of us who can survive and still live well, but at the countless Ghanaians who can not even deal with a simple meal a day, which we cannot even give to our dogs and pets…
What I learned from the Hill during our own political experimentation is: ‘THERE CAN BE NO BYSTANDER IN NATIONAL POLITICS, NO MATTER WHICH PARTY WE ARE AFFILIATED WITH’ because there can be only ONE TRUTH…. I rest my case…. pardon me, if I don’t make sense, blame my growing old age…
