Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has challenged the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, over claims regarding his involvement in promoting LGBTQ-related content.
This comes after Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as ‘NAPO’, had said that the controversial comprehensive sexuality education was drafted under the leadership of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
But responding to the claims, the Chairman of the Assurances Committee of Parliament dared NAPO to prove his claims with evidence, the pro-LGBTQ curriculum he allegedly prepared.
The lawmaker also asked the former Energy Minister to provide the names of the pastors and imams who reportedly accompanied him to promote the LGBTQ agenda across the country.
He rejected the assertion, describing them as “desperate concoctions and outright falsehoods,” intended to revive the struggling Bawumia-Napo campaign.
According to Ablakwa, NAPO “really needs help” and urged his followers to remember him in prayer.
When you say a prayer, please say one for Napo. He really needs help.
I challenge him to produce the pro-LGBTQ curriculum he claims I prepared.
I also challenge him to provide the names of pastors and imams who went round the country with me promoting LGBTQ.

NAPO had made claims that upon assuming office as Education Minister, he discovered that the NDC, under the leadership of Okudzeto Ablakwa, had developed a curriculum that included Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for school children.
The Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) is a curriculum-based process designed to teach and learn about the cognitive, emotional, physical, and social aspects of sexuality.
The implementation of the CSE faced several challenges varying levels of acceptance among teachers, parents, and communities, as well as concerns about the appropriateness of certain topics for young people.
The controversy surrounding CSE often centred on cultural and religious sensitivities, with some stakeholders fearing it might introduce children to sexual content prematurely.
In NAPO’s allegations, he also added that church leaders and imams were strategically positioned to influence the implementation of the curriculum.
The running mate to the NPP’s flag bearer made the allegations at campaign rally at Bantama, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region Saturday, October 05, 2024.
