A senior lecturer at the University of Ghana Law School, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, is questioning why the Vice President, Dr. Mahamaudu Bawumia, who is also the flag bearer of the ruling NPP, cannot subject himself for scrutiny by the media as done by his counterpart, John Dramani Mahama.

The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has engaged the media on series of issues through questioning and answering which was followed by a speech highlighting some of the key things he is seeking to do in his next term if elected.

The Sunday, July 07, 2024 encounter, dubbed, #Mahama Conversations, brought together senior media practitioners from across various media houses to inquire of the former President, how he intends executing some of the promises he has made and his plans for other areas of the economy.

He spoke about his 24-hour economy policy, the Free SHS, abolition of some nuisance taxes amongst others.

John Mahama also reemphasised the importance of ICT and how he intends to invest in the sector to provide more jobs for persons in the sector, whilst espousing his intention to establish a National Women’s Development Bank that will be run by women to support one (1) million women-led and women-owned businesses.

The NDC presidential candidate also relayed his intentions to roll out One Million Coders Programme that will train one million youth in coding and other IT programs for job creation.

He also expressed his intentions to probe the loot on the national cathedral project to ensure the taxpayers’ money wasted on the project is dully accounted for.

Taking to his X, the senior lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law questioned why the Vice President cannot take same initiative for the media to throw questions bothering the minds of the masses at him.

“Why can’t Dr Bawumia also subject himself to such open, frank, rigorous, fair and unchoreographed, issue-based public scrutiny? Why?” he posted on X Sunday, July 07, 2024.
