The Gborbu Wulomo has summoned the family head of the late Ghanaian music icon Daddy Lumba, following reports surrounding the alleged burial of the highlife legend at his private residence in East Legon.

In a formal letter, Wor Lumor Konor Nuumo Borkete Laweh Tsuru, who serves as the Gborbu Wulomo-Shitse and Spiritual Overlord of the GaDangme State, directed Victor Kofi Owusu, popularly known as Abusuapanyin Tupac, to appear before him at the Nungua Palace on Thursday, March 13, 2026 at 11:30 a.m.

The summons comes after reports suggested that the late musician, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, may have been buried at his residence in East Legon, a development that has sparked concerns among sections of the GaDangme people.

Key reasons behind the summons

1. Clarification over the alleged private burial

Traditional authorities are seeking clear confirmation regarding reports that the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, may have been buried at his private residence in East Legon.

The issue has attracted widespread public attention, and the Gborbu Wulomo is expected to hear directly from the family head to determine the accuracy of the reports and understand the circumstances surrounding the alleged burial.

2. Concerns raised by members of the GaDangme community

The reports have generated strong reactions among sections of the GaDangme people, with some community members expressing concern over whether proper consultation and respect for local customs were observed.

Because the East Legon area falls within Ga traditional lands, the matter has drawn the attention of traditional leaders who see it as important to address the concerns of the community and prevent misunderstandings or tensions.

3. Review of customary burial protocols

Another key reason for the summons is to review whether the burial arrangements—if they indeed took place at the residence—were conducted in line with traditional customs governing burials within Ga territories.

The spiritual leadership is expected to examine whether appropriate traditional procedures, permissions, and consultations were followed. This review is also aimed at ensuring that cultural norms and longstanding customs relating to land, burial rites, and spiritual considerations are respected.

The meeting at the Nungua Palace, also known as Gborbu Koonaa, is expected to allow the family head to provide explanations and help address the concerns raised, with the aim of ensuring respect for tradition and maintaining harmony within the community.
