Two individuals have tragically lost their lives following a ‘galamsey’ pit collapse in the Dadieso-Kwabenakrom area in the Suaman District of the Western North Region.
The victims, identified as Kwadwo, 20, and Akwesman, 25, were reportedly working at the illegal mining site when the pit caved in, burying them beneath the rubble.
Despite efforts from bystanders and emergency responders to rescue the victims, both were confirmed dead at the scene.
The bodies were later transported to the Enchi Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and further examination.
The Assemblyman for Suiano Electoral Area, Stephen Otoo, confirmed the incident to Onua News. He indicated that the two victims are from the community, and their families are also assisting the police with further investigation.
