On May 28,2025 the Western North Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Dr. Francis Kwame Tsidi, initiated a special operation aimed at curbing the alarming rate of road crashes caused by the irresponsible use of motorcycles and tricycles.
As part of the enforcement effort, authorities arrested individuals operating unregistered tricycles, riders without licenses, and those exhibiting reckless behavior on the roads.
Following the crackdown, a significant number of offenders were arraigned before the District Magistrate court, presided over by His Worship Eric Baah Boateng. The individuals admitted their guilt to the charges leveled against them.
As a result, the court sentenced them to seven days of imprisonment with hard labor and fined them in various sums of money. Those who failed to pay the imposed fines will serve an alternative sentence of 90 days of imprisonment with hard labor.
The operation, conducted within the Sefwi-Wiawso municipality, is expected to determine stubborn riders and contribute to reducing road accidents.
The Regional Police Command is assuring the general public that this enforcement exercise will be sustained to ensure continued road safety across the region.
