The Overlord of Dagbon, has on Sunday, February 16, 2025, made a historic visit to the Jakpa Palace in the Gonja Kingdom at Damongo.
His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II, made the historic return visit to the Yagbonwura, Bii-Kunuto Jewusoale, at his palace.
It will be recalled that in July 2024, the Yagbonwura embarked on a historic visit to the Gbewaa palace.

The visit signifies the unity and mutual respect as the King and Lord of the Dagbon Kingdom paid a royal visit to his brother, the King and overlord of the Gonja Kingdom.
The Yaa Naa, during his visit, acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Yagbon Kingdom during the peace mediation in Dagbon, emphasising the bond between the two kingdoms.
He also spoke on the chieftaincy succession in Ghana which he said has become the source of conflict in the country, particularly in the five regions of the north.
Meanwhile, the Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe, indicated that the Yagbonwura’s visit ignited that strong passion for the Yaa Naa to reciprocate, an act he deems signifies the peace and unity among the two Kingdoms.
