A group calling itself Eastern Youth Development Association has congratulated John Dramani Mahama following his investiture last Tuesday.
Mr Dramani Mahama was sworn in as President of Ghana for the second time and effectively the third time after that incident in July, 2012.
The Eastern Youth Development Association highlighted the swearing-in of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the Vice President as a feat much to cherish.
She is the first female Vice President in the country’s history.
“As a development-oriented group in the Eastern Region, we use this opportunity to congratulate you and your party for a well-deserved victory after tirelessly combing throughout the country and making your vision for the nation known to all and sundry,” the group said in a statement on Wednesday, January 8.
”We acknowledge the huge task ahead of your government which requires you to set the ball rolling without delay to meet the high expectations of the people especially the youth.”
The group reminded President Mahama on a petition it presented to him “on the creation of another region out of the current Eastern Region so development is enhanced as this could also be a feather in your cup”.
“As you rightly put it in your inaugural speech, ‘you must not be set into perpetual pessimism’, we remain optimistic that knowing the social contract that you have signed with the good people of Ghana, you would deliver to the admiration of all so Ghana becomes the beacon of hope for all.”
