The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has agreed to part ways with national team coach Avram Grant.

Despite qualifying the Chipolopolo to two successive Africa Cup of Nations (AFCONs) including the upcoming edition in Morocco, the former Black Stars coach failed to make a mark in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

His comments after the qualifiers a couple of weeks ago are said to have influenced FAZ to lay him off.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has agreed to mutually separate with Zambia Senior Men’s National Team coach Avram Grant,” FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande announced this on Wednesday, October 29.

“The two parties agreed to mutually separate, with FAZ wishing Mr Grant the best of luck in his future endeavours.”

The Israeli manager also took to his official social media accounts to announce his departure as Zambia coach.

He expressed gratitude to all after spending almost three years with the 2012 African champions.

Zambia will play at AFCON 2025, scheduled to start in December and end in January, 2026, in Group A against Morocco, Mali and Comoros.
