The Ledzokuku Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has confirmed a violent incident that occurred during the Kpokpoi sprinkling ceremony in the Teshie Traditional Area  of Accra on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

The ceremony commenced peacefully around 6:00am with the youth participating in their customary early morning activities jogging, singing, and dancing.

However, the event was marred by violent clashes between rival groups, resulting in the throwing of stones and sporadic gunfire. Police quickly intervened to restore order.

Unfortunately, fresh clashes broke out later in the morning involving factions loyal to different traditional leaders.

Several individuals sustained gunshot wounds during the violence and were rushed to LEKMA Hospital and Family Health Hospital for urgent medical attention. Sadly, two individuals Eddy Blessing, aged 30, and Patrick Maamah Martey Fio, aged 27 were confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital.

One other victim remains in critical condition, while others are receiving treatment.

Tensions escalated as family members gathered at the emergency units, but MUSEC and the Police, in collaboration with hospital authorities, successfully managed the situation. Calm has since been restored to the area.

Investigations are currently underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence. MUSEC assures the public that all perpetrators will be brought to justice and face the full rigors of the law.

The assembly appeals to all residents and traditional factions in Teshie to remain calm and cooperate fully with ongoing investigations to ensure lasting peace in the community.
