Twenty-seven selected junior high schools from 11 districts in the Western region are geared up for the third edition of the Connect-Cowbell Western Best Brain Challenge, which has been launched in Takoradi.
The third edition, promises more innovations especially in the area of Science Technology and Mathematics where students are expected to do more practicals especially in the area of science.
There are about 11 new entrants in this year’s competition who were drawn from various districts including Shama, Jomoro, Ellembelle among other districts.
The Connect-Cowbell Western Best Brain Challenge is a quiz competition among selected Junior High Schools in the areas of Science, Mathematics, English and general knowledge.
The competition, which began with two municipalities – the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Area and the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal in 2021 – has now been extended to 11 out of the 14 districts of the Western region with cowbell from Promasidor Ghana Limited being the official sponsor.

Station Manager for Connect FM Ransford Nana Osei Asare speaking during the launch touted the success story of the program which he said has brought out the best in students from participating schools who are now pursuing their dream courses in their first choice senior high schools.
He however appealed for sponsorship for some of the students to pursue their secondary education in the Western region to enable schools in the region to progress especially in quiz competitions.
Representative of the Western regional minister Charles Cobbinah said child education should be a collective effort between government and the people and therefore commended Connect FM for championing such worthy course.
He however called for the sustainability of the initiative and pledged the full support of the Western regional Cordinating Council.
“I first of all commend Connect FM and the sponsors for this program since child education is a collective efforts. I’m however anticipating the sustainability as I look forward to celebrate the 5th anniversary of this program,” he said.
Representatives from the education directorate of Effia Kwesimintsim municipal assembly and the Sekondi Takoradi metro assembly Kate Biney and Sally Nelly Coleman praised Connect FM and Pomasidor for introducing a program which they said will go a long way to support government’s vision of improving education especially mathematics and science in the country.
They however appealed to both individuals and corporate organizations to support this worthy course.
There were solidarity messages from defending champions, St. Anthony of Padua JHS as well as sponsors of the program and dignitaries who graced the occasion including the representative of the Western regional minister.
The launch was led by the Pro Vice Chancellor of the Takoradi Technical University Professor Victor Kweku Bonzie Micah, together with the station manager of Connect FM Ransford Nana Osei Asare and other dignitaries present.
The Connect Cowbell Best Brain Challenge is proudly sponsored by Cowbell from Promasidor Ghana Limited with support from DESK and Metro Mass Transit who will be providing transportation for participants outside the Sekondi Takoradi metropolis.
