President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, has said that the outcome of Saturday’s polls is an indication that Ghanaians have little tolerance for bad leadership.

He says the outcome of the elections is a representation of many things for leaders, especially those occupying political offices.

Addressing Ghanaians at his Cantonments office in Accra after the Electoral Commission’s declaration of the results Monday, December 09, 2024, the former President said the overwhelming victory  granted the NDC by Ghanaians is a registration of their rage with the current administration that has run the State poorly.

He said Ghana, in the last eight years under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia leadership was the darkest periods of governance in the Fourth Republic, and the citizenry made a decision based on what they experienced.

“For all its historic undertones, this mandate represents many things for all
political actors and those who seek to lead our country.

“It shows that the Ghanaian people have little tolerance for bad governance,
particularly of the sort witnessed in the last eight years, and that they are
willing to take decisive action at critical moments when it matters most. These eight years have witnessed some of the darkest periods of governance,” said President-elect John Dramani Mahama.

He continued that, forgetting the dark days the current administration has subjected the people through, will not be something easy due to the huge scar it has left on the psyche of Ghanaians.

“The crises our beloved country has been through these last several years have left a scar on our national psyche which may take some time to erase,” he stated.

“This mandate also serves as a constant reminder of what fate awaits us if we
fail to meet the aspirations of our people and govern with arrogance,” he added.
