Primetime Limited, organisers of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) has received a new trophy from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to be outdoored in 2024.

The new trophy is expected to give the competition a facelift in next year’s event.

Nana Akua Aboagyewaa Mensa-Bonsu, Managing Director of Primetime Limited made the disclosure at the grand finale of the 2023 tournament.

“We would be remiss of us not to say thank you also to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for his support of the programme, having received us on three different occasions, warmly welcoming us to Kumasi on the occasions that we’ve been there, and even donating a cup to the programme starting next year. So next year there would be a more prestigious cup to fight for,” she indicated.

After St. Peter’s SHS won their third laurel five years ago, they kept the trophy per the rules of the competition, leading to the introduction of the current bronze trophy.

Within the five year period, Presec Legon has won the tournament on three occasions (2020, 2022, 2023) with St. Augustine’s College and Prempeh College winning one each in 2019 and 2021 respectively.

Presec is due to keep the trophy after defeating Opoku Ware School and Achimota School at the 2023 final.
