The 2024 edition of the Tidal Rave event took place on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Among the many musicians performing was Black Sherif.

The artiste during his performance paused to join the calls for an end to galamsey. On the huge screen of the stage appeared a video showing a polluted river as a result of galamsey activities.

The video also showed excerpts of a recent anti-galamsey protest by some Ghanaians and ended with the building at the Independence square after which a bold inscription ‘God Bless Ghana’ was shown.

The “Yɛn ara asase ni” patriotic song was also performed live by 2nd Runner up of Talented Kidz Season 15, Truth Ofori as an indication to call on the leaders to fight the menace.

Black Sherif’s patriotic act received applause and cheering from the crowd who supported the artiste’s patriotic act.

In the past weeks, Civil Society Organizations, Organised Labour and well-meaning Ghanaians have urged the President to take action against Galamsey activities.

President Akufo-Addo in response suspended the L.I 2462 on mining in forest reserves. In addition, the president directed the Defence Minister to deploy more soldiers to galamsey sites to end illegal mining activities.
