A second-string Black Stars lost 2-0 to Mexico in a friendly match played at Cuauhtemoc Stadium in Puebla on Friday.
The goals were scored in each half of the game to secure victory for the 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosts.
Brian Gutiérrez opened the scoring after just a minute of action when he caught Benjamin Asare off his line following a misplaced pass in his own defence area.
The Guadalajara midfielder put the ball far left of Asare, who was overstretched to save the situation.
The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, however, recovered to make timely saves for his side, almost single-handedly keeping the score at 1-0 in the first half.
The Ghanaians returned from break more fired up with Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi hitting the woodwork.
Moments afterwards, however, Guillermo Martínez capped a counter-attack by the hosts to double their lead.
Numerous substitutions including Solomon Agbasi for Asare by stand-in coach Desmond Sakyi Ofei changed the texture of the game.
The score stayed 2-0 as the two nations wrapped it up ahead of the announcement of their final squads for the mundial next month.
While Ghana have a final match to play against Wales on Tuesday, June 2, Mexico are set to play Australia on Sunday, May 31 as they also wrap up preparations for the tournament.
