The New Force Movement has announced the suspension of Adu Acheampong, a member of the security entourage of its presidential candidate, after physically assaulting a fan at a funeral over the weekend.

In a video that went viral on social media Saturday, June 7, 2025, Adu was captured punching a young man who wanted to approach the New Force’s presidential candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako.

“Seven”, as he is popularly known, assaulted the man during the burial rites of the late Mamponghene and Krontihene of Asanteman, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, on Saturday, June 7.

The Movement, according to a statement signed by its General Secretary, Charles Yomekpe, said their security team member used “unjustifiable force” against the supporter who was merely trying to engage their presidential candidate, also known as “Cheddar”.

The “regrettable” incident, as described by the New Force, according to the statement, will be treated with “utmost seriousness.”

Acheampong will remain suspended while the team carries its investigation to determine the appropriate disciplinary measures to be given to him.

Meanwhile, he has been enrolled in a comprehensive anger management programme to address the behaviour put up by the member to prevent any future recurrence.

“Our movement is founded on respect, engagement, and peaceful democratic participation,” the statement emphasised.

Meanwhile, Mr Acheampong has offered an unqualified apology to the victim of the attack.
