Eight suspects have been arrested in a joint operation by Ghanaian and Togolese security forces on Saturday afternoon, August 2, 2025.
The operation followed an armed youth at Bimoaba attacked a Fulbe settlement in Kongo, near the Togo border in the Tempane district.
Reports indicate the assault was instigated by a land dispute which injured five persons, with two of them being severe. It also resulted in the destruction of homes and stored food.
The Togolese security forces intervened after some of the victims and suspects fled into Togo, after the attack. Ghanaian security forces later apprehended five additional suspects.
The Fulbe families, per reports, began mobilising for response, but were prevented by the swift intervention of the police, according to Yakubu Barry, a victim of the incident, who lauded the police for halting any further escalation.
He called on authorities to ensure that justice is served.
