Police personnel from Prestea Police Command have arrested four armed robbers, two of whom are alleged to be military officers.

The four are said to have attempted a robbery at LongShine Mining Company Limited, in Obouhu, a suburb of Prestea.

Sources told our news team that two other suspects managed to escape arrest, leaving the Police with the two military officers and two civilians in custody.

On Sunday, September 28, 2025, the Prestea Police Command received information from the security guards and management of the mining company regarding the robbery incident.

The suspects

The four have since been taken from the Prestea Police Command to the Tarkwa Divisional Police Command.

The robbers rented a brand-new Toyota pickup, registered GN6116-25, for this operation, which has also been confiscated by the Police.

Interacting with the media, some of the security guards recounted how the robbers assaulted them and demanded to be led to the gold room. Mr. Gideon Ofori, a Tailing Officer (T.O) at LongShine Mining Company Limited, provided further details about the incident.

“About three days ago, around 11:40 PM, we have two sites where the workers sit and the elders sleep. I was there and saw that a car had rushed to the top side. When I looked at the state of the car, it was the kind we normally use here.

“So I stopped to check through the window to see who had come at this time, and I saw unknown people who do not work here. Some were in uniform, while others were in soldiers’ uniforms, and some were armed, with their faces covered by masks.

“So my boss was asked to come outside, and I didn’t understand, so I came out, but I was far from them. They drove him away, which led me to inform my other seniors,” he narrated.
