David Kwaku Nkrumah, 21, a final year Electricals student of Hemang Technical SHS in the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira district of the Central region is battling for his life at the Emergency ward of Twifo Praso District Hospital.
Master Nkrumah was butchered by a 45-year-old mason whose name was given as Salinco for allegedly stealing his GH₵5.00.
Both victim and suspect are residents of Twifo Wawase in the aforementioned district.
According to reports, on Friday, May 5, 2023, they attended a vigil (wake keeping) at Twifo Jankobo, a nearby community to Twifo Wawase.
After the wake keeping, the two boarded the same taxi back to their hometown when the suspect, Salinco, complained of his his missing mobile phone.
After moments of searching through the car, the victim found the missing phone for the suspect.
However, the suspect again complained of his missing GH5.00 and accused the victim since the phone he found was with the money.
He therefore demanded the 21-year-old student to produce the money in addition.
Salinco threatened to butcher him if he fails to produce the GH₵5.00 after three days when the young man said he had no knowledge of the money but only found the phone.
Three days on as threatened, Salinco has butchered Nkrumah over the missing five Cedis.
