Nana Obiri Boahen, a former Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has chastised African leaders, particularly Ghana, for the poor leadership that has made the continent unattractive to its citizens.

The private legal practitioner says most indigenes would opt for the return of their colonial masters should a ballot be conducted for a choice between the black man and the foreigners.

He is convinced African politicians and leaders have failed their people, leaving them frustrated.

“If we should place a ballot box all over Africa for us to vote to choose between being led by the white man and the black man, 99.99% will vote for the white man’s return. Because you see, African leaders, intellectuals, statesmen, academicians have disappointed their people,” the visibly disappointed lawyer said on Kumasi-based Wontumi TV Saturday, March 23, 2024.

According to him, some Asian countries who trailed behind Ghana’s per capita income in the independence era are now advanced than the country, showing how poor leadership has failed the citizenry.

“Ghana, in 1957, our per capita income was higher than that of South Korea, that of India and that of Holland but now these reference countries are even better than us,” he added. The vociferous further buttressed his assertion with how people admire their colleagues who get the opportunity to travel out of the country due to the precarious state of affairs in Ghana.
