General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin  Frimpong Kodua has said the party has not held any meeting or deliberation on changing its leadership in Parliament.

He said the party was satisfied with the performance of Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, dismissing suggestions of an imminent change in the leadership of the NPP caucus in Parliament.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, October 29, he said “NPP has not had any meeting or deliberation on changing the party’s leadership in Parliament. We are happy and overwhelmingly satisfied by the work of the Minority Leader.”

He explained that the party’s immediate priority was to ensure a successful parliamentary selection process, rather than discussions about a running mate for the next general election.

“The focus of the NPP now is to make sure we go through a successful parliamentary selection process. We are not focusing on running mate at this moment,” he stated.

On calls for a contest to determine the party’s running mate, Kodua said the NPP constitution did not provide for the position to be filled through a contest or campaign.

“There is no part in our constitution that says the running mate shall be selected through contest or campaign,” he said.

He also criticised individuals he said were encouraging bloggers to promote their ambitions for the running mate position.

“There is no part in our constitution that says the running mate shall be selected through contest or campaign. People who are urging bloggers to promote them “moakyi gu ho”,” he added.
