The New Force, a new political movement in Ghana, has expressed deep concern over the arrest and detention of Shalimar Abbiusi, one of its spokespersons.

The Kaneshie District Court in Accra charged a 30-year-old Belgian national, Shalimar Abbiusi, for allegedly falsifying documents to obtain a resident permit in Ghana.
She was accused of violating section 52 (1) (i) of the Immigration Act 2000 (Act 573), specifically “Obtaining for Yourself a Student Permit by False Declaration.”

For falsely declaring herself a student of the Ghana Christian University College on or before September 23, 2023, in the Greater Accra Region, the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) says Abbiusi had the intent to evade legal requirement to be a resident of Ghana.
Following the false declaration, Abbiusi was able to successfully acquire a student permit with the number, 0088754.
The legal action was initiated by the Ghana Immigration Service on December 6, 2023, and the case is currently under the jurisdiction of the District Court in Kaneshie, Accra.
