Ga Mantsɛ and his Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has said it was never part of his thoughts to occupy the stool of the Ga Mantsɛ.

Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II disclosed in an interview on Joy FM that he lived most part of his life in Kumasi and abroad and only visited Accra once in a blue moon, making him to never anticipate to lead the Ga people.

The Ga Mantsɛ emphasized that he learnt the Ga language and some of the Ga customs while living with his mother in Kumasi for close to 30 years.

Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said he was only opened to Accra and some of the Ga customs when he was posted to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for his national service.

He said a research he conducted while at GBC helped him to get to know of places in Accra noting that he never thought of being a leader of the Ga people.

“Being Ga Mants3 was very far away from my line of thought and even if I wanted to be a leader, I never thought that I would be blessed and honoured and have the privilege to serve my people in this capacity,” Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said in an interview on Thursday, June 6.

“It was never in my line of question that I would be interested in Accra or be in Accra.”

According to him, despite this, there had been a prophesy about his life to become a great person soon after he was born.

He noted that the Founder of the now Divine Healer’s Church, Prophet Bro. Lawson made this prophesy during his naming ceremony.

“When I was born, the whole me being born. Bro Lawson out doored me which is a very integral part of our Ga customs.

“When he had done that, he said: ‘this baby who has just been born will grow up to fulfill a very huge task for the people of Ga so Aafo (mother of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru) take good care of this baby, six months later my mother flew to England and we stayed there for a very long time,” he stated.

“If mother had not spoken Ga with us or taught us Ga, how would I be able to speak Ga because we lived in Kumasi for about 25 – 30 years.

“The only time I get to come to Accra was when I was traveling out of the country and even that sane day I will go back by domestic flight or STC back to Kumasi. We were never part of Accra,” he explained.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru is currently being visited by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The durbar is happening at the forecourt of the Ga Mantsɛ Palace in Accra.
