The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre following a serious road accident last week. The incident triggered anxiety across the Ga State and beyond.
Prior to him being discharged, President John Dramani Mahama had earlier visited him at the facility to check his condition, while extending his well wishes.
The Ga Mantse was involved in a serious motor accident on the evening of Tuesday, February 17, 2026, while returning to Accra from what palace officials described as an urgent mission. The crash occurred along the Pai-Katanga stretch of the Oti highway in the Oti region.
According to details from the Office of the Ga Mantse, the accident happened as the King’s convoy navigated the highway during his return journey from the Northern region.
The visit had been undertaken at the invitation of the Ya Naa as part of efforts to deepen traditional unity and strengthen ties between the Ga and Dagbon kingdoms.
Despite the severity of the crash, no fatalities were recorded. The King and members of his entourage were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Ghana Police Service and royal staff before being transported to Accra for further medical attention.
Upon arrival at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, the King and his aides underwent a series of medical examinations to assess the extent of any injuries sustained in the accident.
In a statement signed by the Chief of Protocol and Communications, Amb. Sir S.J.K. Parker-Allotey, the palace confirmed that His Royal Majesty’s recovery had been swift and satisfactory.
The Ga Mantse has since directed his office to extend profound appreciation to the emergency responders and the medical team who managed the situation. He also expressed deep gratitude to the public for the outpouring of prayers and well wishes received since news of the accident broke.
