Like every other citizen, every chief in Ghana has one vote, and should therefore be careful with their utterances in this political season, President of the National House of Chiefs and Omanhene of Sefwi Anhwianso, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has advised.

The chief has tasked his colleagues to be circumspect in their engagements with politicians in this political season where aspirants will call upon them during their campaign tours.

The President of the National House of Chiefs has explained that as chiefs, they had only one vote just like all other electorates.

His advice comes on the back of an endorsement of the former president, John Dramani Mahama, by the chief of Breman, Baffour Kotei Kutin Sraman II, during a public lecture at the Christian Service University last Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Baffour Sraman II, who was the guest of honour at a lecture organised in honour of the former President Mahama, described him as the in-coming President and went on to say that “I believe every one of the words that I have spoken: he is coming back” referring to the former president.

The lecture was on the theme: “Sustainability of democracy in Africa: the Ghanaian experience.”

Addressing the National Houses of Chiefs Friday, June 21, 2024, Ogyeahoho Gyebi, called on the chiefs to advise the youth not to be used by any politician to cause havoc in the political season.

He said despite having the right to campaign for any candidate of their choice, they should not forget to do so within the remit of the law.

The Omanhene of Sefwi Anhwianso further urged the political class not to foil the peace in the country with their actions, asking stakeholders to speak against persons who intend to destabilise the peace of the country during the polls.
