The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has told President Akufo-Addo that it is his party that would be rejected by Ghanaians at the December 07 polls and not his misinformation that Ghana was not founded by Osagyefo Dr. Nkrumah.
The party says Akufo-Addo’s attempt to change the history of Ghana is a disgrace to him since the whole world is aware of Nkrumah’s contribution towards Ghana’s struggle to independence.
The comments come on the back of claims by President Akufo-Addo that Ghana was not founded by one person, but by the collective efforts of many whose contributions have spanned through generations.
In his 2024 Founders’ Day address Saturday, August 03, 2024, President Akufo-Addo insisted that one person cannot take the credit as the founder of the nation relegating the collective efforts of others from different generations.
“I speak to you this evening, rejecting completely, the notion that Ghana was founded by one man. While Kwame Nkrumah’s contributions to our independence are undeniable, it is important to acknowledge for ourselves that respect that the struggle for our nation’s freedom was a collective effort spanning several generations,” the president said in his broadcast.
But in a statement issued by the CPP Sunday, August 04, 2024, and signed by the Chairperson of CPP’s Independent Committee, Wing Commander Patrick Nelson Sogbodjor, it says Akufo-Addo’s rejection of Nkrumah as the founder of Ghana is an “unfortunate gaffe”.
The statement stressed that the mismanagement of the economy due to Akufo-Addo’s poor governance is what would lead to a total rejection of his party at the December polls and not his attempt to rewrite Ghana’s history.

PRESS RELEASE – TO ALL MEDIA HOUSES
Sunday 4th August 2024
CPP REJECTS HIS EXCELLENCY NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO’S UNFOUNDED FOUNDERS’ CLAIM
Fellow Countrymen and women, children and admirers of the Great Osagyefo, the great and only founder of our great country.
Today is another solemn day in the history of our dear nation, a day where we are once again reminded of the attempts by the New Patriotic Party Government to whitewash the history of this country for its own parochial interests.
It is not surprising that on the eve of this day, the leader of this nation, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whom the CPP accords all the respect due the Presidency, should come out with such an unfounded claim.
Coming so soon after the statement on an NPP campaign platform, where our great Founder was referred to as ‘mo Kwame Nkrumah’, it is evident that the President and his party have concluded that they want nothing to do with the Great Osagyefo and his vision of true economic, social, and political freedom and prosperity for Ghana, Africa, and the marginalised worldwide.
To reject The Osagyefo as the Founder of Ghana on the weak basis that “the struggle for our nation’s freedom was a collective effort spanning several generations” is indeed an unfortunate gaffe, and it would have been thought His Excellency would have been more selective with his words, in these last days of the NPP administration, especially after mistakenly referring to His Excellency the former President John Dramani Mahama as his vice only a couple of days ago. The NPP is indeed a party of inaccuracies and massaging of facts on all fronts.
The whole world knows who the Osagyefo is, and that he Founded this country and named it Ghana, after the old Ghana Empire, on the eve of our independence of 6th March 1957. This was after countless attempts were made by the antecedents of the NPP, made up of Dr. J.B. Danquah and other elements of the UP tradition, to stop Ghana from gaining independence.
Thus, no amount of rejection by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo can change that. What will be resoundly rejected due to its bad and hardship propagating policies and corruption, is the NPP Government at the Polls, come 7th December 2024. Ghanaians will continue to defend The Osagyefo and his progressive vision, and no amount of rejection by any individual, party, or foreign neo-colonialist element can stop it.
Forward Ever!
Backward Never!
Yɛn Kwame Nkrumah!
Ghanafoɔ Kwame Nkrumah!
