Gospel sensation cum politician, Grace Ashly, has said many politicians undermine the dignity of celebrities in Ghana because of the perception they have about them.
The artiste who now belongs to Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change has indicated that many politicians have the perception that celebrities get closer to them to beg for money.
For that reason, she has indicated that these politicians undermine their dignity thinking that their closeness to them is to gain financial favours.
“As an entertainer or celebrity, sometimes when you get close to the politicians, the respect they give you dwindles. Because they know we are in for money,” she stated.
Speaking with Yaa Titi on Onua FM’s PaeMuKa, an afternoon political show, the woman known for composing most of the songs for the Black Stars in its early appearances at the FIFA World Cup, stated that she has never regretted doing politics.
She added that the assertion that musicians will come down for doing politics is not true. According to her, “if you’ll come down, you’ll come down, it is not politics.”
