Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has declared her intention to contest as independent candidate for the constituency following her defeat in the party’s parliamentary primary.

Madam Morrison, the former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, lost the parliamentary primary to one Chris Arthur.

But the MP, who feels she deserved to win the primary, with the hope that her people still want her to continue representing them in Parliament, has said she is going to contest as an independent candidate.

In a video which has since gone viral on social media, the former Minister told members in one of the communities in her constituency that she was going to contest to complete the work she has started.

In the video, she referred to the completion of a project she is undertaking in the community, at whose commissioning she will communicate her full intentions to the people.

She noted that some women in the community have already began campaigning for her and she was confident she is going to win the election to continue her works for the people.

“I will inform Nana to invite us all for me to relay what I have to you. When I got here some of the women followed me to the school and they told me they have already began their campaign. If God permits, I will contest as independent to complete what I have started,” she told the gathering in Fante.

She continued that “when we are about commissioning the building, I will invite the entire community here and provide an explanation to you all to advise me because in such instances, it is not about the NDC or NPP.”
