The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified campaign in the Asokwa Constituency, aiming to cause an upset and win the seat for the first time.
Though the NDC is yet to secure even 20 percent of votes in the constituency, the party’s parliamentary candidate says his confidence level is high based on the feedback he is getting from constituents.
Being one of the traditional seats for the New Patriotic Party in Ashanti Region, the highest vote-share the NDC has had is 16 percent in the 2004 and 2016 parliamentary elections.
But the NDC is sure of capturing the seat in the upcoming parliamentary election.
“I know Asokwa is one of the constituencies that give NPP more votes, but I am in to create a record. I’ve extended my door-to-door campaign and the message I’m getting is that, most of the constituents need change. I’m confident they will vote for me, massively”, NDC parliamentary candidate for Asokwa, Amoh Kamel stated.
At the launch of the party’s campaign in the constituency, Member of Parliament for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak implored members of the party to help in policing the ballot on December 7.
“All of us must stand ready to protect every single ballot. If we all do this, John Dramani Mahama will win the election convincingly”.
The NDC Regional Chairman, Andrew Nana Akwasi emphasized that the party’s victory in the 2024 elections will be cemented by the overwhelming votes from Ashanti Region.
