West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus will lead the Black Stars against Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane on Thursday, October 10 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

This was confirmed by coach Otto Addo during the pre-match press conference on Wednesday, October 9.

Andre Dede Ayew, who is the substantive captain of the Black Stars, has been snubbed since the exit of the senior national men’s soccer team from the 2023 AFCON.

Deputy Captain Thomas Teye Partey has, therefore, taken up the responsibility of captaining the team in matches since then, the first being a 2-1 win over Mali.

However, the Arsenal midfielder withdrew from the recent call-up for the Sudan doubleheader.

According to official information from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), he had “medical issues”, forcing his club to schedule him “for further tests in the coming days”.

“Kudus will lead the team,” Coach Addo told journalists in Accra.

The match will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium at exactly 4:00pm.
