Former Black Stars coach and captain James Kwesi Appiah has been nominated by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as Coach of the Year.
The Sudan national team coach will face competition from nine other contenders for the coveted award.
Kwesi Appiah’s performance at the helm has seen the Falcons of Jediane nominated as the Men’s National Team of the Year for the Awards scheduled to take place in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday, December 16.
Appiah was appointed Head Coah of the Sudanese national team last year.
He is yet to lose in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, leading Group B, which includes former African champions Senegal and DR Congo.
He has lost once in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, beating giants Ghana in the latest game.
Among the other coaches nominated for the Awards are Pedro Goncalves of Angola, Brahima Traore of Burkina Faso, Emrese Fae of La Cote d’Ivoire and Sebastien Desabre of DR Congo.
The rest are Chiquinho Conde of Mozambique, Hugo Broos of South Africa, Florent Ibenge of Al Hilal, Jose Gomes of Zamalek and Marcel Koller of Al Ahly.
