Security and Safety analyst, Dr. Adam Bonaa, has disclosed that the person in charge of State Protocol should not be in office by now.
His call comes on the back of a viral video where President Akufo-Addo is found taking money from someone in public and putting it in his pocket.
The video, which has since stirred controversy amongst a section of the public has been criticised by many, with different meanings being read into it.
According to Dr. Bonaa, the act is an embarrassment to the State since it is unpresidential.
He says those who were close to the President should have stopped the person from coming close to Akufo-Addo to give him the money, adding that it is their responsibility to ensure that “at every giving point, the President is seen in the eye of the public to be truly presidential.”
Speaking on Onua FM’s Asem Ben Ni? with Captain Smart Wednesday, November 20, 2024, he said what is seen in the video is nothing near presidential and those in charge of protocol should have been made to suffer for their actions.
He asserted that it is because many of the people around the President are not professionally trained security persons, but rather, people from the party who were pushed to such positions after the party attained power.
“Everything around the President must be rehearsed, planned, including the water he will drink in public. But unfortunately, it looks like most of his close protection unit consist of “boys who were around” and were brought in with no formal training. So in a situation like this, the state is going to be embarrassed but we will take it like that.
“Whoever is in charge of state protocol, by this time, should have been fired. His people should have suffered because you don’t do that,” he stated.
