Personnel from the various security services in Ghana have been advised to prioritize the interest of the nation when discharging their duties before, during, and after the December 7 elections.
Addressing personnel at an inter-security prayer service for peaceful elections in Kumasi, leadership of the services entreated their members to do everything within their power to maintain the peace in the country.
“Our allegiance is to the state and not any individual. Let’s ensure that we remain professional and patriotic in the execution of our duties and preserve the safety of the country”, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Central Command, Brigadier General Michael Kwadwo Opoku stressed.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Frank Abrokwa also implored the men and women in uniform not to allow themselves to be used to spread misinformation.
“As we go to the ground, if someone gives you information, verify before you pass it on. We don’t want a situation whereby unverified information that has the tendency of causing problem will be attributable to the security agencies”.
The security services have, however, expressed their readiness to see to a peaceful election.
The various commanders also advised electorates to abide by all the rules and regulations governing the voting process.
