The atmosphere is charged with anticipation at Jubilee Park in Kumasi as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares to elect its Ashanti Regional executives on Saturday, August 15,2026.
The Ashanti Regional election forms part of the nationwide NPP regional elections, with delegates across the country heading to the polls to elect leaders who will steer the party’s affairs at the regional level.
In the Ashanti Region, 1,022 delegates are expected to participate in the exercise, with four polling stations designated for the election. More than 2,000 police officers have also been deployed as part of the security arrangements to ensure a smooth, peaceful and orderly process.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has arrived at Jubilee Park, where the Ashanti Regional election is being held.
The venue has been buzzing with activity as delegates, party supporters, candidates and their campaign teams gather ahead of the voting process.
With extensive security arrangements in place and delegates ready to cast their ballots, all eyes are now on Jubilee Park as the Ashanti Region joins other regions across Ghana to determine the NPP’s next regional leadership.
Delegates across the region are voting to elect executives who will oversee the party’s operations, strengthen its grassroots structures and coordinate its activities at the regional level for the next four years.
The exercise is the latest phase of the NPP’s internal elections, following the completion of polling station and constituency-level contests.
To ensure consistency and compliance with the party’s electoral procedures, the NPP has deployed national representatives to the region to supervise the elections.
The representatives are expected to monitor the conduct of the polls, promote transparency and fairness, and submit reports on the electoral process, including any incidents or irregularities recorded.
The party has also directed Regional Executive Elections Committee to maintain professionalism, discipline and order throughout the exercise.
Several aspirants are contesting key regional positions, including Regional Chairman, First and Second Vice Chairpersons, Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Communications Officer and Nasara Coordinator.
The elections are being closely monitored as the NPP seeks to strengthen its regional structures and build a more effective organisational base ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Results of the various contests are expected to be announced after voting ends and ballots have been collated and certified by the Electoral Commission.
