Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta has praised the consistency of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Teye Partey this season.
He said Partey will always have a role in his team, describing him as “a massive player for us”.
Arteta was speaking after Arsenal’s 5-1 drubbing of Portuguese outfit Sporting in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
Partey lasted the entire duration of the game at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
“I think it’s one of the best performances I have seen from him,” Arteta said of Partey’s display on the pitch, “especially the way he’s dominated the game.”
He added: “This year he’s been so consistent as well because he always has a role, that’s a big thing.
“He is a massive player for us.”
This verdict comes in sharp contrast to the former Atletico Madrid man’s output for the Black Stars.
The Deputy Captain sought permission to absent himself from the doubleheader against Sudan in October in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), forcing coach Otto Addo to decline inviting him for the following month’s games against Angola and Niger.
Otto Addo, however, made it clear that Partey has a place in his team in future “so we are hoping for him to return”.
