President Akufo-Addo has urged former President and flagbearer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress John Mahama to accept the outcome of the December 7 elections.

President Akufo-Addo emphasized that Mahama’s claims suggesting that a victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December polls would be the result of a rigged election, are baseless.

The President said this when he addressed the clergy and traditional rulers in Koforidua on November 28.

“In 2012, I went to court over the elections I believe I had won. When I went to court, the Supreme Court ruled 5:4, it was almost equal. I accepted the results and even congratulated you. Rigging is in not in our dictionary, we shall vote
in fairness, whoever wins, has won,” he said.

The President added “Let’s hear from him that whatever the results of the elections, he will accept the results. That is what we want to hear him say, if he wants to contribute to the peace of the country. Not make statements that will weaponise extreme elements in your party.”

“The people of Ghana are going to vote, what I have seen across country shows people will vote for Dr Mahamadu Bawumia,” President Akufo-Addo predicted.
