John-Peter Amewu, the Member of Parliament for Hohoe, has expressed gratitude to constituents of his polity for the opportunity given him to serve them.

Although his quest to seek reelection hit a snag, he said he is grateful for the opportunity he was given during the 2020 parliamentary elections.

In a statement shared on his Facebook Monday, December 09, 2024, he said he would rather have regarded his defeat as a blessing than a misfortune if his personal sentiment was left to judge the outcome.

He says the numerous responsibilities required of him has been taken off him, praying for his successor to continue with what he started four years ago.

“If I could regard the decision by the voters as purely a personal one, I would consider it as a blessing rather than a misfortune, for I am relieved of the burdens and responsibilities of my position as MP and thus gives another opportunity to work hard and build a stronger party for the future.

“God does not require great things of us. He only wants that we improve the opportunities that are presented to us with passion, diligence and commitment.

“I am glad that by God’s grace I have improved the lives of our people with the opportunities available to me in active politics; and I am committed to continuing in the same vein even in private life,” he added.
