The Ekumfi Traditional Council is urging President-elect John Dramani Mahama to pay equal attention to all parts of the country in his developmental agenda.
It also wants Mr. Mahama to continually respect traditional leaders while promoting the spirit of collaboration.
Reiterating members of the Council’s disappointment in an earlier assertion by President Akufo-Addo, that he denied the area development because the people of Ekumfi voted against the NPP’s 2020 parliamentary candidate who was then the incumbent MP, Francis Kingsley Ato Cudjoe, the Council urged the incoming President a to make inclusivity an integral part of his administration.
President of the traditional council, Odeefo Akyin VIII, who spoke at a press conference Sunday, December 15, 2024, however, wants the President-elect to attend to the developmental needs of the Ekumfi area.
“Your respect for traditional authority is what has earned you this victory. Let your ‘reset the economy’ mantra be reflective of what the people have done. We know God will guide you as a result of your humility. Instill unity and avoid divisiveness because two heads are better than one.
“Sometime ago Ekumfi people were told we were out of the development plans of the government because we did not vote for a particular parliamentary candidate. Don’t neglect us and help construct our roads and others which have been abandoned since 2020. We take you as a son because you succeeded Prof. John Evans Atta Mills. Respect people as you always have and we know God will help you to succeed,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the house is disappointed by the deafening silence of the NPP even though they made public their disapproval of president Akufo Addo’s statement citing it as a main factor that contributed to the abysmal performance of the NPP in the recently held elections.
