Daniel Yaw Domelevo, a member of John Mahama’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team has disclosed that members of the team are not going to serve the whims and caprices of people.

He has pointed out that their mandate will not serve the interest of people who have personal vendetta with others, but will rather base their work on issues with substance and evidence.

Mr. Domelevo was reacting to some names that have come out as possible persons to be investigated by the team following the naming of the team’s members by the President-elect.

“We will investigate every information given to us because our committee is not to serve people’s personal interest or vindictive moods that they want us to go.

“So, if you bring us something we’ll look at the value of it and see if it carries some weight. If we realise it has substance, then we’ll pack it and say this requires further investigation to go. It’s not because you don’t like someone so you’ll bring the person to face Domelevo or Ablakwa,” he told Captain Smart on Onua TV’s morning show Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Reemphasising that “audits or investigation is based on facts”, the former Auditor-General expressed the need to attach evidence to every allegation that would be presented to the team.

Citing an example, he stated that “maybe you may not like Gabby and you can bring his name. But we’ll ask you what he has done and the evidence. So, if you don’t have the evidence, I don’t think we can go further. Unless you have the evidence or you point us to where the evidence is then we can go and look at it.”

“But if it happens that you just don’t like the person just because he is Chairman Wontumi, then I don’t think that’s the right way. All the members on the committee are people of integrity and will maintain high sense of integrity. We’ll not witch hunt with the committee,” he added.

President-elect John Dramani Mahama named a five-member committee to spearhead his ‘Operation Recover All Loot’ to retrieve proceeds of corruption and hold persons responsible for such deeds accountable.

In a statement issued by the Spokesperson for the transition team of the incoming administration, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, noted that the “Team has been set up to receive and gather information from members of the public and other sources,on suspected acts of corruption.”

The Team comprises the following individuals: Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah – Chairman, Daniel Domelovo-Former Auditor-General, COP(Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, Martin Kpebu-Private Legal Practitioner and Raymond Archer-Investigative Journalist.
