LA Galaxy and Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil has revealed that chasing his passion for music does not distract him from his football career.
The 2024 MLS Cup champion has a number of songs in his catalogue including Unbreakable, Without You, Make You Sing and the latest one Blessing.
He follows the likes of Asamoah Gyan and Kevin Prince Boateng who pursued music while actively playing.
The singer seems to have found the perfect place to flourish on the field and follow a music career in Los Angeles as his announcement to the Dignity Health Park was produced with his song Unbreakable, which had over 165,000 views on Instagram.
In an exclusive interview with MG Sports at his residence, Paintsil disclosed how he balances his time between football and music.
He mentions that he only does music in the off season.
“I only focus on my free days when I have my free days like now that we are on vacation.
”When the season starts, I have to really focus on just football because when the season starts, I don’t focus on music because I will be distracted. I will have two ways of dealing with things and that is not good for an athlete.”
His song titled Blessing has become part of the anthems one hears blasting through the speakers at LA Galaxy’s home matches.

This he describes as a feeling of acceptance from the Los Angelinos family.
It was, therefore, not surprising when he had his first stage performance at the victory parade at the Dignity Health Sports Park’s Legends Plaza.
Thousands of fans who thronged to the venue sang alongside him when his song Blessing was played.
According to him, he felt happy knowing the team appreciates all of him.
“I felt really happy especially when we had the warm-up, they also played it. It’s a good feeling when they appreciate your song in the United States. Also where I play is also a music country so me finding my music being played in the stands and speakers around the stadium is such a great feeling and after we won the league also, they played it and I was singing towards it. It makes me feel good knowing that these people have really accepted me”.
Painstil also publicised his intention of performing at events during the Yuletide.
