Some 280 members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) including the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, have been sacked from the party.
These members who occupied some key positions within the party in the Agona West Constituency have forfeited their membership on the grounds of breaking away to support the incumbent MP in her independent candidate bid ahead of the 2024 elections.
Per a letter issued by the party’s constituency Chairman, Alhaji Gibrine Tanko, the banned persons can no longer hold themselves as members of the NPP neither can they hold any position as well as attend or participate in any event organized by the party and also use the party’s symbol and its flag.
The Agona West MP Cynthia Morrison broke away from the NPP to contest in the December 7 elections as an independent candidate after losing the party’s internal election.
Some constituency executives, polling station executives and ward coordinators declared their support for the MP.
