Ghana will not make it to next year’s Championship of African Nations (CHAN) to be held in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
This follows a 3-1 aggregate scoreline against Nigeria in the qualifiers.
The two fierce rivals had played a goalless draw last Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium in what was the first leg of the qualifiers.
But in the second leg, played on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the Super Eagles B showed determination to make the cut for the eighth edition of the tournament after going 3-0 up in the first half.
Berekum Chelsea’s striker Stephen Amankona pulled one back for the Black Galaxies in the second half but it was too little too late for Mas-Ud Didi Draman’s boys.
The Nigerians made it 3-1 on aggregate and will be one of the three representatives from WAFU Zone B when the tournament begins.
Niger qualified at the expense of Togo on away goals rule after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline and Burkina Faso beat La Côte d’Ivoire 4-2 on penalties after both legs had ended 2-2 on aggregate.
