The Krontihene of Akyem Asuom in the Eastern region, Nana Boadi Amponim Abodade III, has expressed relief over President Akufo-Addo’s tenure which is coming to an end.

He says many chiefs are excited over the end of his presidency following the disrespect and arrogance he accorded them during his tenure.

President Akufo-Addo exhibited so much disrespect to some chiefs in the country, such as ordering some with his left hand to get up and greet him at public functions.

He also told a chief in the Volta region to continue a stalled project on his own if he felt it was delaying. Also, Akufo-Addo, when residents within North Tongu and its enclave were hit by flood, he told them he wasn’t supposed to be there because they do not vote for him

.

This, amid certain comments such as aborting developmental projects in Ekumfi because the people failed to vote for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate, raised a lot of concerns about the President’s arrogance and the lack of respect for the people that gave him the power.

Nana Abodade III, in an interview with the media prayed that Ghana shouldn’t get a President like Akufo-Addo again. He said he and some other chiefs are excited that Akufo-Addo will soon exit as President of the Republic.

“Some of us are happy that his reign is over. A lot of the chiefs are happy. A good friend of mine who is also a chief told me once that; ‘let’s see if he’ll come around and instruct chiefs to wake up to greet him’. It’s not a good legacy.

Aside from his poor character, the chief also slammed him for doing little with the much resources at his disposal as president.

“He could have done more. He had so much revenue, he had so much he could have done for this country and so we pray we don’t get another Akufo-Addo to be President of Ghana,” he added.
