The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah as the Member of Parliament-elect for the Techiman South constituency.

The declaration follows a High Court ruling on Saturday, January 04, 2025, which asked the Commission to complete the re-collation it was undertaking in the constituency.

The court had ruled that some 147 polling station results had not been included in the collation which should be added as demanded by the stakeholders.

The results were thus collated and added to the already calculated results as directed by the court.

In compliance with the ruling, the EC completed the collation process and subsequently declared Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah the winner of the parliamentary election.

Mr. Adjei-Mensah Korsah, thus secured 46,663 votes, defeating Christopher Beyere Baasongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who polled 43,429 votes.

According to the EC, the addition of one polling station to the results was not going to change the outcome of the total results.

Techiman South is among the four constituencies still in contention between the two major parties with barely 2 days more for parliament to swear in newly-elected MPs.

The NPP had rulings going in their favour regarding the other three constituencies namely Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central and Tema Central.

Following the ruling, the EC immediately commenced the collation today ostensibly to conclude and gazette the results before the swearing-in of new MPs.

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has served notice of appeal against the High Court’s ruling on all the four constituencies.
