President John Dramani Mahama has named four persons to take four key positions in Ghana’s National Security.

A statement from the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, issued Wednesday, January 15, 2025, says the President has appointed former Chief of Staff, Prosper Douglas Bani, as National Security Advisor to the President.

“Mr Bani, a former Minister for the Interior, brings a wealth of experience and expertise,” the statement added.

According to the release, “DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak will serve as the National Security Coordinator, ensuring a cohesive strategy across all security initiatives.”

COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.), per the release, has also been appointed Director of Operations at the Presidency to oversee operational effectiveness in security matters.

Ghana’s National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) formerly BNI, will also be headed by Charles Kipo as its Director General.

“The appointments reflect President Mahama’s commitment to enhancing national security and ensuring the safety of citizens,” Mr. Kwakye Ofosu added in his statement.
