The former Managing Director of SIC Insurance Company Limited, Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, has sued the company and its newly appointed MD, James Agyenim-Boateng.
She has sued for the termination of her contract which she says spans a four-year-term and expires on January 1, 2028.
President Mahama terminated her appointment and announced Mr. Agyenim-Boateng as her replacement on January 27, 2025.
But Duah-Yentumi has refused to step aside, challenging the matter in court to the effect that it is only the company’s Board of Directors or a resolution by all the shareholders at an Annual General Meeting (AGM) that can effect changes to her contract.
She argues that the terms of her employment are strictly governed by her contractual agreement with SIC Insurance and can’t be altered by anyone but the Board or shareholders.
Madam Duah-Yentumi further insists that the termination of her employment is unlawful, as it contravenes the provisions of her contract as contained in Clause 7 of her agreement.
She is also contending that Agyenim-Boateng’s appointment is procedurally flawed and illegal.
The legal practitioner is therefore seeking a declaration from the High Court to declare as null and void, the termination of her appointment as part of her reliefs.
Also, she is asking the court to overturn the appointment of Agyenim-Boateng and reinstate her as the legitimate MD of the company.
She is also asking the court to demand the defendants to compensate her for the entire salary and benefits due for the remaining period of her contract.
